Odd though it may seem, I have names for a couple of my beds. For instance, the row along the East edge of the yard, closest to the driveway, I think of as "Sunflower Row". I am not really sure why, because I planted Lilies before Sunflowers, and the Roses were there before the Lilies. But thats what it is.
My next bed conversion came to me randomly, I was out weeding one day, and actually just got a little carried away. The corner of the yard between the trellis and the house all of a sudden became a newly-turned, freshly fertilized ready-be-plated garden bed, which I now lovingly think of as "The Pocket". In the pocket I plated alyssum seeds, wave petunias, kiwis, sunflower starts, and snapdragons. There were already a couple of passion flowers in there as well.
The Pocket! :)
A little closer up. You can see Passion Flowers beginning their ascent up the trellis on the right. The back right pot has a Kiwi plant waiting to be planted. The two random-looking green things planted in the middle are Wave Petunias, and there are Alyssum seeds planted all around them. On the left is a Salvia plant and another Passion flower waiting to go in.
You can see here a little better where the pocket is. The boat in the driveway is in the background, the part of the house on the left-hand side is the entryway to the house.
This is not a great picture, but you can see the growth a little bit of the petunias :)
Along with the creation of the pocket, I put in Tigrida bulbs, potted a couple of Dahlias, planted snapdragons, Lavender (oh how I love that smell!!)
2 beds down!! Still have all the beds on the S and W side of the house to go!! :)
